Signs of Diabetes in Women

The pancreas secretes the hormone called insulin, which effectively absorbs all the glucose that is available in the blood and convert it into energy. Many health complications can arise if the proper functioning of the above said process gets hindered; usually the excess glucose that is not absorbed gets accumulated in the blood and increases the blood sugar level.

Diabetes is of many types but the most common among them are gestational diabetes, type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is as the result of our body failing to control the level of glucose in our blood stream due to lack of the hormone insulin. Type 2 diabetes is where the hormone insulin that is secreted normally, but the individual's body cannot use the same to absorb glucose.

There are instances wherein Type 2 can result in a total deficiency and absolute depletion of insulin in an individual's body. Gestational diabetes is a condition that is usually developed by pregnant women, who never before had this condition called diabetes, but get a high blood glucose level during pregnancy. This type of diabetes can later transform into Type 2.
